There are two parts to the application process in order to be accepted by both the University and to the department of art and art history. You must submit a completed application form to the University’s Office of Admissions and a portfolio of recent work to the art department.
If you are a transfer student, you will also need to provide a transcript of your previous academic record.
Students wishing to enter Adelphi University as an art major can submit their portfolio by sending digital images via email representing their recent studio work. The portfolio should be accompanied by a letter of introduction addressed to the department chairman. Applicants are strongly encouraged to make an appointment to visit our studios, meet the chairman, and present the portfolio in person. Your portfolio should include 12 to 20 examples of recent work in any media.
We also schedule several “portfolio review days” on campus in both the fall and spring semesters. These events provide an excellent opportunity to see the studios, meet faculty and obtain a portfolio review and interview in one stop.
