The Curriculum

As freshmen, students are immersed in art and the language of art from day one. Their experience begins in the first semester with studio classes in drawing, 2- or 3-D design and an in-depth dialogue about the nature of art and the role of the artist in “Introduction to Art Seminar”. Continuing their career at Adelphi, students will develop skills, discipline and visual sophistication, empowering them to realize a personal artistic vision.

Introductory courses give students a broad exposure to many disciplines including printmaking, painting, photography, sculpture, calligraphy, ceramics, comics, animation, and digital art. In the senior year, students concentrate in one area and work with mentors to solidify their personal direction.
