BFA in Art and Design Education

Becoming a teaching artist.

The BFA in Art and Design Education prepares you to be an innovative, dynamic, teaching artist for diverse learners across a range of educational settings.

Learn a range of ways to make, present, interpret and teach art, as well as how to collaborate across a variety of disciplines and communities in the process. Upon graduation you are eligible for New York State certification in visual arts education.

  • Other creative endeavors in the arts

The Curriculum

  • A range of Art and Design Studio Courses
  • Art and technology including STEAM, Animation and other time based media

  • Fieldwork and student teaching opportunities in schools, museums, and after-school programs – Long Island, NYC and internationally.
  • Individual studio spaces for students pursuing self-directed projects.
  • Opportunities to exhibit work in one of four university galleries.
